Season Dates

April 1-April 28, 2017.

2017 Spring Turkey Season Dates 
  • Regular (firearm/archery): April 12 - May 31, 2017


  • Archery-Only: April 3- 11, 2017


  • Youth/Disabled: April 1 - 11, 2017


  • Shooting Hours: One-half hour before sunrise to sunset.


  • Legal Equipment: long, recurve, or compound bows, crossbows and shotguns and muzzleloading shotguns using shot sizes 2 through 9.


  • Limit: Any individual who has purchased a spring turkey permit is eligible for a second turkey game tag. Spring game tags are valid for Units 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6.

2017 Whitetail Deer Season Dates 
All deer hunters and persons assisting deer hunters, hunting during firearms deer season, must wear an orange hat and at least 200 square inches of orange on the upper half of their body.

  • Youth and Disability: Sept. 3 - Sept. 10, 2017 (Youth 16 and younger, who possess a valid deer permit, may hunt during this special deer season only while under the immediate supervision of an adult 18 or older. Any person who possesses a valid deer permit and has a permit to hunt from a vehicle pursuant to KAR 115-18-4 or a disability assistance permit issued pursuant to KAR 115-18-15 may also hunt during this season. All resident and nonresident permits are valid, and equipment restrictions designated on permits apply. Hunter orange is required.


  • Muzzleloader: Sept. 11 - Sept. 24, 2017  (The following permits may be used during this season in units specified on permit, using muzzleloader or archery equipment: resident or nonresident Muzzleloader Either-species/Either-sex Permit, resident Any-Season White-tailed Deer Permit, nonresident Muzzleloader White-tailed Deer Permit, Hunt-Own-Land Permit, Special Hunt-Own-Land Permit, Antlerless White-tailed Deer Permit, and Antlerless Either-Species Deer Permit. Hunter orange clothing is required.


  • Archery: Sept. 11 - Dec. 31, 2017


  • Regular Firearm: Nov. 29 - Dec. 10, 2017


  • Shooting Hours: One-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset.
